NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site Summer Research Programs
We are pleased to highlight the following NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site summer programs that provide immersive, hands-on research opportunities in artificial intelligence. These competitive programs engage undergraduate students in cutting-edge AI research under faculty mentorship.
REU Site: Making Generative AI Responsible
This REU Site focuses on addressing critical challenges related to risk and uncertainty in Generative AI. The program emphasizes the development of novel algorithms that prioritize privacy, security, explainability, reliability, and robustness, helping ensure that generative AI technologies are developed and deployed responsibly.
Duration: 10-week summer research program
Research Areas: Responsible AI, trustworthy AI, generative models, AI safety
Program Website: https://responsibleailab.github.io/home.html
REU Site: Beyond Language — Training to Create and Share Vector Embeddings across Applications
This REU Site aims to train students to design modern AI systems capable of creating, sharing, and transferring knowledge across domains using vector embeddings. Recognizing that knowledge extends beyond language, the program prepares students to work with advanced representation learning techniques that enable cross-domain communication and understanding.
Duration: 10-week summer research program
Research Areas: Representation learning, embeddings, cross-domain AI, knowledge transfer
